Cheshire Home Open Day Sales - 3 July 2005 (Sunday)
This is my first ever involvement in such a charity event. Even my mum requested my help when she had a stall in a similar event few months back and I rejected her invitation to. Oh man… now I felt bad.
My firm’s club… which is called KEYS in short, has a stall in the open-day sales selling "tau fu hwa". Previously, this product of ours was selling off-the-hook and it was sold-off in matter of minutes (alright, I am exaggarating)! However, this year, it wasn’t selling as fast as we thought it could.
During the course of my competitor survey, there were some other stalls selling similar items and in similar packaging as ours, and one of it happens to be Nana’s parents. They were telling me the same thing too, that their ‘tau fu hwa’ wasn’t selling. However, they had back-up. Instead of just selling tau-fu-hwa alone, they also did sell some other edible goods.
As for ours, our back-up were breads and buns, which we recommended it to be eaten alongside with our ‘tau fu hwa’, but not many people practise that though.
While I was walking around being a mobile ‘tau fu hwa’ seller, I bumped into these 2 lady friend of mine. I wasn’t expecting to have met them in such places. They were helping their friend selling laksa though, and their laksa was selling beyond expectation. There were customers every minute. So since my ‘tau fu hwa’ was in such low demand, I decided to annoy their customer by selling my product to them…. hehehehe! Not sure if there were any negative business implication though…. but I managed to sell off some…. but mostly to the people I know of.
At the end of the day, most of us adjourned into a small room for a cash-count. While all of us was counting the cash, look at Elizabeth @ Ah Buk, playing with her handphone instead! Teng-teng-teng… caught in the act!!
After all the cash collections was counted, all our hands smell of the mixture of cash notes and coins.
Although our ‘tau fu hwa’ wasn’t selling as expected, we managed to generate a sales value of 3 figures. Wohhh!! Good work ler!! Our hard work had paid off… all was made possible because of these people… yea yea, me included… hehehehe… and some other colleagues who were not in this photo as well.
